I noticed the subject of your reply was truncated (at 25 chars, I
assume). This suggests you don't have a HEADERS.DAT file in your REP packets set to VERT. Can you double-check your settings against https://wiki.synchro.net/howto:dove-net#step_4configure_your_qwknet_hub

I thought 1 gigabit was fairly common/standard now on most computers, routers, switches, and such.. I have a couple of PCs and a router, all which have 1 gigabit ethernet onboard. Are you using fairly old equipment? I think the only things I have these days that only support
100 megabit ethernet are a couple of streaming devices (a Roku Ultra, a Nvidia Shield Pro), and a USB Ethernet adapter I use for a Nintendo
Wii), and those are things that arguably would be fine with 100
megabit.

I'm using older 100 Mb/s switches. I have some 1 G/s switches here, but they're still in the box. My uplink is only in the 50-100 Mb/s range so I see no need to break out gigabit switches. Even most of my computers are only capable of 100 Mb/s anyway. I imagine if I had gigabit internet service, hell even 300 Mb/s service I'd be breaking out the 1G stuff, but for what I have on my uplink, 100 Mb/s LAN is more than enough.
I've bought so much tech gear over the past 40 years that ends up worthless and in a landfill (or my closet, I'm slow to throw out stuff I think I might use again one day), I try to buy new tech only when prices have come down considerably.I try not to buy new computers unless I absolutely need it. It's not just about your internet speed - If you copy files or other
data between computers in your home network, it can be good to have the highest speed possible. But if your computers aren't capable, then I suppose it doesn't make much difference.
